At the heart of Braamfontein Wits’ campus radio, Voice of Wits (VOW) FM 88.1 has done it again and secured a whopping 18 nominations at this year’s South African Radio Awards.

The annual Radio Awards are a platform for radio broadcasters and stations to be recognised and honoured for their exceptional contribution to the South African radio industry.

The 13th edition of the SA Radio Awards will take place on 2 December 2023 in Parktown, Johannesburg.

85 prestigious awards will be presented to deserving recipients and Vow FM hopes
to take home all 18 awards that it is nominated for. The station continues to solidify itself as a fan favourite for playing great music, engaging the listener in informative conversations and giving out some awesome prizes.

In the past, VOW FM has kept other stations on their toes by winning awards after awards
and this year will be no different.
In 2022, the station scooped an amazing 6 wins out of 19 nominations.

In 2023 VOW FM has been nominated in the following categories:

Afternoon Drive Presenter
Breakfast Show Presenter
Breakfast Show
Content Producer
Daytime Show
Music Show
News Bulletin Reader
Night-time Show
Promotions Stunt/Event
Station Imaging
Weekend Radio Show
Station of the Year

Vow FM Station Manager Martin Vilakazi says the nominations are a great
motivation for the team.
“To be nominated is exciting but what is more exciting is to see most of those that
are nominated leave the station and get permanent jobs at commercial radio stations
because VOW FM is not just a radio station but a platform where people get trained for
the world of radio”.
“I wish all of our staff volunteers could get nominated because they are really doing
great work”.
