Since the South African Rainbow Alliance (SARA) satisfies all IEC standards to be included on the Election 2024 ballot paper, it will be submitting all of its documentation to the lEC today.
The Congress of the People had dismissed City of Johannesburg Council Speaker Colleen Makhubele, who allegedly signed the party into an alliance with the South African Rainbow Alliance.
As SARA pursues a position in the legislature, Makhubele says Only a Woman on Top, Can Change South Africa.
This great accomplishment comes as the World commemorates International Women’s Day.
“Women participation and leadership is essential to the change we need in South Africa right now. Women’s votes will be the swing vote and decide the future of this nation. The electorate have shown confidence in SARA and it’s a clear indication that the general sentiment is that Only a Woman on Top, Can Change South Africa.”
While new parties would need between 10,000 and 14,000 signatures to run in the election, independent candidates would just need 1,000 IEC signatures.
Accused of having failed the city during her tenure as the City of Johannesburg Council Speaker, Makhubele expressed enthusiasm for releasing the Candidate List, aiming to promote gender equality, diversity, merit-based appointments, and moral clarity in politics.
“The type of skills will reflect the priorities of the party for the next 5 years. We have outstanding unemployed graduates who are excited to finally get an opportunity to be productive and serve their country whilst feeding their families.”
In the national elections of 2024, Makhubele said, these minority parties gave up their own spots on the ballot to unify under the banner of SARA.
“Our achievements are a testament to our resilience. And as we approach the SARA Manifesto Launch, the direction we wish to take South Africa on, economic recovery plan, national debt eradication and creation of jobs will be self-evident” said SARA Executive President Colleen Makhubele.
