The movement believes that Motshega is not a suitable person for the role.
“ It is our view that such a demanding role should have, been given to someone with military background in order to easily, understand the operations within the Ministry.”
South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Angie Motshekga as the minister of defense and military veterans, sparking widespread reactions following his cabinet announcement 17 days after parliament’s election.
The South African National Defence Union (SANDU) has welcomed the appointment of new Defense Minister Angie Motshekga and her deputies, Bantu Holomisa and Richard Mkhungo, by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Save South Africa Campaign Director, Tebogo Mashilompane, argues that the movement opposes her appointment due to her past failures and lack of decisive leadership in the Ministry of Education.
The call is to assist the former education minister in conducting introspection and considering safety and security for the people of South Africa, said Mashilompane.
“We are saying Mme Angie just do it (resign) for the sake of the 60 million South Africans.”
Save South Africa Civic Movement admits the fact that Motshega did not appoint herself.
“We further acknowledge the fact that since the President took office he has reduced the Ministry of Defence into a dumping site for ANC failed Ministers.”
