President Cyril Ramaphosa has made a few changes to his Government of national unity cabinet.
Human Settlements Minister Mamoloko Kubayi has been appointed as the new Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development.
Kubayi is replacing Thembi Simelane who is currently under fire for corruption allegations linked to the VBS scandal.
Simelane is accused of receiving a loan of more than R500 000 from a VBS-linked fixer, Gundo Wealth Solutions, during her tenure as the mayor of Polokwane.
In his cabinet change announcement, Ramaphosa said Simelane will now serve as the Human settlements Minister.
Additionally, Phumzile Mgcina has been appointed as the Deputy Minister for Mineral and Petroleum Resources. She has been serving as the Deputy Minister of Labour and Employment.
Mgcina will be replaced by Judith Nemadzinga-Tshabalala who will now serve as the Deputy Minister of Labour and Employment.
In a statement released by the Presidency on Tuesday, these changes will ensure the effectiveness of cabinet in delivering to its mandate.
“The changes to the national executive are effective immediately,” the statement read.
