Kaizer Chiefs were once again left with their tail between their legs as they were defeated 2-0 by Polokwane City in their betWay premiership match at the Peter Mokaba stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Phefeni Glamour Boys went into this encounter seeking for nothing but a victory to stay adrift with their giants’ counterparts such as reigning league Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates but Bafana Bafana international Oswin Appollis and Mokibelo Simon Ramabu had other ideas as both men found the back of the net in the 17th and 90min respectively to ensure that Rise and Shine sink Amakhosi to climb up to third on the premiership table.

The Naturena based side woes continue to pile up as Nasreddine Nabi’s appointment came with a lot of expectations as Chiefs has only registered four wins in all competitions thus far this season, three in the league against Marumo Gallants, Amazulu, Richards Bay FC and one in the Carling Knockout Cup against SuperSport United.

Nabi also went into this match without the services of defender Reeve Frosler and midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo. Frosler is suspended following his red card against Richards Bay a fortnight ago. Ngcobo is currently nursing a hip injury, and he is also set to return in 3-4 weeks’ time.

Chiefs’ Sunday defeat sees them sink out of the top 8 to lie ninth on the premiership table. Their next assignment will be on Monday 16th of December, where they’ll travel away to Mbombela stadium to face TS Galaxy.
