Stellenbosch FC have confirmed that they have signed Lesiba Nku from Mamelodi Sundowns on a permanent deal. The 28-year-old has been heavily linked with the Cape Winelands for some time as he has struggled to find some game time with the reigning league champions.

The Limpopo born player only managed 28 appearances during his spell with The Brazilians and registered five goals and one assist to his name. The club announced Nku’s signing on their socials, managing to strike the deal on deadline day.

“We are delighted to confirm the Deadline Day signing of Lesiba Nku on a permanent transfer from Mamelodi Sundowns ✍️.”

Stellies and Downs have been doing business together of late, which has seen Iqraam Rayners and Jaden Adams make a switch to Chloorkop and now Nku makes a switch to the Winelands. He becomes Steve Barker’s second signing after Thato Khiba, who has been signed from TS Galaxy.

The club also announced that Nku will wear number 7, which was previously worn by former skipper Deano van Rooyen, who moved to Orlando Pirates at the start of the season.

Nku will be aiming for a new fresh start in the Western Cape and could possibly make his debut when Stellies set to lock horns with Sekhukhune United on Saturday.
