In a significant mid-season transfer, Manchester United’s long-standing forward Marcus Rashford has secured a loan move to Aston Villa for the remainder of the 2024/25 season. The 27-year-old, who came through United’s Academy, leaves behind an impressive legacy at the club where he made 426 senior appearances since his debut in 2016.
Throughout his time at Manchester United, Rashford has been a prolific goal scorer, netting 138 goals and winning five major trophies. This season, he contributed 7 goals in 24 appearances, with his last game being a Europa League match against Viktoria Plzen in December. His final goal contribution for United was a notable brace in a 4-0 Premier League victory over Everton.
Internationally, Rashford has been equally impactful, representing England with 60 caps and scoring 17 goals across two European Championships and two World Cups.
The transfer occurred near the close of the January transfer window, coinciding with United’s acquisitions of young defenders Patrick Dorgu from Lecce and Ayden Heaven from Arsenal. This follows the earlier loan departure of another forward, Antony, to Real Betis.
Rashford’s move to Aston Villa marks a significant moment in his career, signaling a potential new chapter for both the player and Manchester United.
