English Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced the signing of Zimbabwean International Marshall Munetsi from Stade Reims on deadline day. Wolves currently lie 17th position on the premier league table, two points shy of the relegation zone and we’re in search of a formidable side for the final stretch of the season.
The former Orlando Pirates towering midfielder has penned down a three and a half year deal with Wolves with an option to renew by a further year. He made 159 appearances for the French side, scoring 21 goals, and assisted on 14 occasions.
With Tawanda Chirewa and Leon Chiwome already on their ranks, Munetsi becomes the third Zimbabwean to join Wolves, though Chirewa has been loaned out to Huddersfield Town for the remainder of the season, also making his loan move away from the club on deadline day.
The Harare-born player’s move to England has made him the most expensive Zimbabwean player currently, with the deal said to be around €18 million, making his move to Wolves with two years remaining in his contract with Reims. He leaves the French side having been nominated for the prestigious Marc-Vivien Foe award back in 2023.
