VILAKAZI PULLS THE PLUG ON HIS COACHING DUTIES AT USUTHU

betWay premiership outfit Amazulu FC have announced that Arthur Zwane will continue as the sole head coach following Vusumzi Vilakazi, who has since resigned from his co-coach duties with immediate effect, citing personal matters that need his attention. The club has sent out a statement confirming the news.

Vilakazi, together Zwane, were appointed as co-coaches back in October last year, following Usuthu parting ways with the then head coach Pablo Franco Martin, who left the club in 15th position on the betWay premiership table and the surprising appointment of coach Kanu and coach Arthur was a quest to try and turn the club’s fortunes around.

Vilakazi, who had been at the helm of Usuthu’s DStv Diski Challenge side since leaving Richards Bay, was brought in to collaborate with Zwane in bringing diverse perspectives and tactical approaches to the team.

The success of the co-coaching setup was dependent on Vilakazi and Zwane forging a strong working relationship and effectively managing the team’s dynamics. Usuthu are looking to solidify their position within the top 8, and they are currently played 6th on league table.

Club president, Sandile Zungu, has since expressed his sincere gratitude to coach Vilakazi for his contribution to the club. “On behalf of the entire Usuthu family — players, technical and administrative personnel, supporters and board members — we wish Mpiyakhe all the best in his future endeavours,” said Zungu.

Usuthu faithful will be hoping that with Zwane now set to be the sole head coach, he will bring an approach that will continue with the stability and success of the club. AmaZulu will return to action in the Betway Premiership on Sunday as their next assignment will be against Cape Town City at King Zwelithini Stadium.
