Sekhukhune United have announced that they have parted ways with coach Lehlohonolo Seema, just hours after he made an appearance at the Nedbank headquarters in Sandton, for the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals press conference.
The announcement also comes at the back of United’s 2-1 defeat to Richards Bay FC in their betWay premiership match at the King Zwelithini stadium on Wednesday night. Babina Noko opened the scoring charts through Chibuike Ohizu but the Natal Rich Boys sealed the victory with goals from Fezile Gcaba and Thabiso Kutumela.
Seema has been a subject of speculation in the past few months despite guiding Sekhukhune to the fourth spot in the league so far with 31 points. He has guided the Limpopo based side to nine league victories, drew four matches and suffered seven defeats in 20 matches thus far in the season.
With 10 matches left before the end of the season, Sekhukhune have decided to cut ties with Lehlohonolo Seema. This is the second time Sekhukhune axed Seema after firing him towards the end of last season. He was brought back at the start of the current campaign to replace Italian Paulo Hyballa.
It is said that Eric Tinkler is already waiting on the sidelines to replace Seema after being offered a job in the past few weeks. Tinkler is set to take over at the helm at Sekhukhune after parting ways with Cape Town City FC in December 2024. The 54 year-old coach was also shown the exit door at City after a dismal start to the season.
The club has announced that Kaitano Tembo and Paulus Masehe will steer the ship for the remainder of the season.
