Chelsea have been crowned 2025 FIFA Club World Cup champions following their 3-0 victory over Paris Saint Germain at the MetLife stadium on Sunday evening. It was all there for the taking for The Blues as they head into this encounter wearing the “underdogs” tag.
Player of the match Cole Palmer showed his class as he opened the scoring charts for The Blues in the 20th minute, tapping the ball in the far left corner of net. The man didn’t stop there, as in the 30th minute he replicated his first goal, putting the ball passed Donnoruma into the far left corner to complete his brace.
Chelsea continued their football masterclass as newly signed Brazilian attacker, João Pedro scored the third goal for Chelsea, feeding PSG their own football medicine. This was Pedro’s third goal in Chelsea colours as he scored a brace against one of his former teams, Fluminense in the semifinals.
The FIFA Club World Cup title becomes Chelsea’s second title this season following their UEFA Conference League title prior to their trip to the United States. Cole Palmer was named player of the match and also Adidas goal ball award while goalkeeper Roberto Sanchez was named goalkeeper of the tournament.
Coach Enzo Maresca will have a season to remember as he ushered Chelsea into next season’s UEFA Champions League, claiming the UEFA Conference League title and now the FIFA Club World Cup title.
With the upcoming 2025/26 premier league set to get underway on the 15th of August 2025, it remains to be seen how much time will Chelsea have before reporting for camp prepare for the season ahead.
