Kaizer Chiefs find themselves at a critical state as they prepare to face AS Simba in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday. With a string of six games without a victory in all domestic competitions, the pressure is mounting on the Soweto giants to perform strongly on the continental stage.
Coach Cedric Kaze has revealed two key players are set to miss the CAF Confederation Cup game against AS Simba on Sunday . These are more injury blows to the Glamour Boys, who must win the second round preliminary showdown in order to progress in the continental competition.
“The thing that we are sure of until now is that Mayo is out for this game after suffering a hamstring injury in our last game,” said coach Kaze.
“We still need to manage and make some additional tests for Miguel, who was injured at halftime against Siwelele. We will assess him today and tomorrow to see if he can feature. As coaches, we are optimistic about him,” he added.
“Other than that, Ethan [Chislett] is still not fully fit. He started training with the group, but without contact. Given has already had one week of training with the group after being out of the field for six months.
“Paseka Mako is still unavailable, but the rest of the team is still doing good. Flavio [Da Silva] has been training with the group for the last 10 days, and we’re pretty sure he’s good to go now”.
Fans will be hoping for a renewed spirit in the squad that echoes their past glory.
