THE CARLING KNOCKOUT CUP STAGE IS SET

The draw for the second campaign of the carling knockout took place at The Galleria on Tuesday afternoon in Sandton, Johannesburg. This is set to be the second domestic cup competition where all 16 teams will battle it out to see who will be the ultimate champion with the final being announced that it will be staged at the Orlando stadium on the 21st of December 2024.

Last year, Stellenbosch FC won the inaugural edition after beating TS Galaxy on penalties at the Moses Mabhida Stadium to lift their first-ever trophy. This year, the defending champions will begin their quest to defend their title with another trip to Durban where they will face AmaZulu.

Some of the fascinating fixtures include SuperSport United against Kaizer Chiefs with reigning league champions Mamelodi Sundowns hosting Lamontville Golden Arrows while cup kings Orlando Pirates to have an easier tie against newly promoted Magesi FC.

• Richards Bay vs Sekhukhune United
• AmaZulu vs Stellenbosch FC
• Polokwane City vs Marumo Gallants
• Cape Town City vs Royal AM
• TS Galaxy vs Chippa United
• Orlando Pirates vs Magesi
• Mamelodi Sundowns vs Golden Arrows

The winner of the Carling Knockout will pocket R6.85 million, with the runner-up walking away with R2.85 million. On the other hand, the semi-finalists will receive R1.35 million, the quarter-finalists will earn R850, 000, and the teams knocked out in the last 16 will only gain R550, 000.

The PSL will confirm the dates, venues and times in due time.
