Tanzania premier league outfit Young Africans SC have appointed former TS Galaxy coach Sead Ramovic as their new head coach having parted ways with Miguel Gamondi on Friday afternoon. The Argentine tactician was appointed at the start of the 2023/24 season, succeeding Nasreddine Nabi, who now is at the helm of Betway premiership outfit Kaizer Chiefs and has since guided the team to their third consecutive league title and the quarterfinals of the CAF Champions League, losing out to Mamelodi Sundowns.

The dismissal of the 57-year-old mentor comes at the back of Yanga’s back-to-back defeats against Azam FC and Tabora United earlier this month, which has left them trailing their fierce rivals Simba SC by a single point. Gamondi was shown the exit door together with his assistant Moussa Ndaw.

Just a few hours later, the club moved swiftly and announced Ramovic as Gamondi’s replacement, who resigned from his position live on television just a week ago. In a bid to compete for all trophies on offer, Yanga brought in Ramovic, a UEFA Pro license holder, who proved his qualities as the coach of Galaxy in the SA elite league and turned The Rockets into one of the most exciting teams to watch in South Africa with his high-intensity football.

Yanga currently sit on second on the Tanzanian premier league table on 24 points with eight victories and two defeats, a point adrift of rivals Simba SC. Ramovic will have to hit the ground running as his first assignment will be at home against Sudanese powerhouse Al Hilal in the CAF Champions League on Tuesday the 26th of November at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium, before his league debut against Namugo four days later.
