Kaizer Chiefs defeated Stellenbosch FC 2-1 in their betWay premiership match at the FNB stadium on Wednesday evening. Amakhosi’s defence has been sloppy in the early stages of the match, laps of concentration which saw them concede a goal courtesy of Khomotjo Lekoloane in the 20th minute.

The glamour boys then produced some promising attacks which saw them being rewarded in the 28th minute through Wandile Duba, firing a header from close range to find the back of the net through a Thatayaone Ditlhokwe pass, leveling matters going into the halftime break.

The home side made it 2-1 in the 58th minute through Duba’s brace who beat the offside trap to slot past Sage Stephens at the near post. The Soweto giants held on to their lead despite facing late pressure from The Cape Winelands side.

The atmosphere at the iconic stadium was electric, with the Amakhosi faithful in full voice, generating a significant level of noise and encouragement. Club chairman, Dr. Kaizer Motaung, would undoubtedly be proud of his troops’ performance tonight.

The victory sees claim their first win of 2025, their fifth league win of the season and also climbed up to fifth on the premiership table, celebrating their 55th birthday in style.
