Kaizer Chiefs played out to a goalless stalemate against Cape Town City in their betWay premiership match at the FNB stadium on Wednesday evening. Both sides went into this encounter desperate for nothing but a victory to move up the premiership table.

Jaeden Rhodes did pose a few threats on the right hand side for the visitors, which he nearly scored as early as the sixth minute but his shot hit the side netting. Teenage sensation Mduduzi Shabalala had the first real chance for Chiefs in the 22nd minute after beating a few Citizens defenders but his shot was saved by Darren Keet.

In the second half, Amakhosi continued with their dominance of possession and attacking intent, while City were content to play off the odd transition with the hope of breaking the deadlock. The biggest chance of the match came on the stroke of half time where Shabalala was left with the keeper to beat inside the penalty box but wasted the opportunity with his shot missing the target.

In the second half, Amakhosi maintained their dominance of possession and attacking intent, while City were content to play off the odd transition with the hope of breaking the deadlock. The golden chance came as Glody Lilepo hit the crossbar with his long-range attempt from outside the box.

The results sees Chiefs remain eighth on the betWay premiership table on 29 points, three behind the third place Stellenbosch FC, while City remain tenth on 23 points, winless in the last eight games in the league with three draws and five defeats.
