The South African Football Association have announced the return of Adidas as technical sponsor following the announcement that the football mother body won’t be renewing their contract with Le Coq Sportif.

The French sportswear brand has been a SAFA sponsor since 2020. They have provided playing kits for Bafana Bafana, Banyana Banyana, and all the junior national teams. Le Coq Sportif filed for bankruptcy with all major kit deals and partnerships in January 2025, but continued with SAFA.

They had some of the great initiatives which included the launch of a Banyana Banyana special-edition black kit aimed at raising awareness of gender-based violence, which they wore during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia. The turquoise grey for Bafana, which they wore during the AFCON bronze medal triumph in Ivory Coast.

AFCON finals that will take place in Morocco during the December and January period, will be the final major tournament in which South Africa’s national teams wear apparel and use equipment supplied by Le Coq Sportif

With Bafana Bafana having secured World Cup qualification, SAFA saw it fitting to announce the return of Adidas as their technical partner on a three-year deal.

Adidas will kit all of South Africa’s men’s and women’s national teams, from Bafana to junior sides, with the March 2026 FIFA international period marking the first time teams will don the three stripes.
